I kind of new to this so I need a push into the right direction.
I have two hAP ac² routers, one connects to the internet, the other one is upstairs. It’s not possible to connect both devices over a wire so I want to set up the 5GHz band for that.
However, there is quite a lot of ways to do it, involving either WDS, EoIP, etc… I don’t know which one to use.
The simplest way of doing it is to create separate SSID on 5GHz AP on router (mode bridge) and configure the upstairs WAPon 5GHz as client (mode station bridge). Have separate security profile for the 5GHz SSID. All security profiles on both RBs should match. Haves “wireless protocol” setting on WAP set to “nv2 nstreme 802.11” so you can experiment by changing setting on router.
Leave wlan2 interfaces to be bridge members. And don’t forget to reconfigure the upstairs RB into switch/WAP mode: disable firewalling, DHCP server etc.
If you just want to use the internet and your local network in upstairs, you can use the repeater option on other router to repeat the AP signal. its very easy and useful.
