thinking based on Tom'b review why wifi sucks, part II

Hello Gurus,

Earlier I was thinking that it is not real to build a wifi network on 60 client’s nodes, today I read the article http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/wi-fi-performance,2985.html where was described a test of an AP with a noise generated by 60 laptops and also was a test with 60 clients simultaneously generating traffic with one AP. The best results was shown by Ruckus ZoneFlex 7363 and there was described why. Since I’m not deeply familiar with wifi physics and terminology I want to ask of you is there any Mikrotik product that use same technology of building a radio signal, which product I could use to serve many clients (up to 50) with ability to provide not only internet but with quality voip?

Thanks.

Mikrotik does not have any products that do beam forming.

Does it mean that Ruckus scores ahead of Mikrotik??

I know cost wise it is priced high an issue. but if it can handle 60 to 70 clients then the cost is worth.

Although I have worked successfully with 16-20 clients on Mikrotik. I had lot of problems until some tweaking helped. so far no probs but have heard Mikrotik with 25-30 is max.

Mahnet, which RB do you use to serve 20-30 clients per AP, on which band and does they use VoIP?

rb 433ah with xr2 or r52h serves good for 20 clients. 2 clients r using IP camera over LAN generating upload traffic.
avg. internet bandwidth per user 512kbps to 1 mbps.

Hi again

how do you think, some 433 RB with 2 radios and 2 omni antennas will be enough for 40 clients with internet (shaped up to 2mbit about 20mbit toatal with voip) on a 5Ghz band?

rb433ah with 2 radio(mini pci) and 2 sectorial antenna is gud enuf for 40 clients.
total aggregated 20 mbps shld be attained with no problems at 5ghz.

what is the best choice - omni antennas on different channels or sector antennas?
where to find a 433 in case and with antennas?

thanks.

Sector antennas are best. You can minimize interference much more easily if there are sectors. You can also use dual-polarity sectors are run 802.11n and get some extremely good bandwidth.

Go for a 433ah instead of 433. 433ah has better processor, RAM. Works towards bettering the bandwidth/throughput. Mini PCI should be R52Hn or DBI F50 pro.
Sector antenna would depend on the area u wish to cover. 16-18 dbi covers 2 kms radii with comfort.
