The above is what I plan on purchasing for our Mikrotik router, anyone have any input on this? Should I go a different route?

Don’t know about the ‘Intel 82571GB Gigabit Controllers’, they don’t list the PT on the support list, only the MT, maybe someone who has used this card before can chime in.
I recommend reconsideration the hard drive, thats a weak link that can/will fail. Do you need the storage space for something? I like using Transcend Flash IDE Solid State Disks, they come in all sizes from 256mb to 8gb. The OS only needs 64mb. I usually get the 512mb size. If you need larger they have the 2gb ($56), 4gb ($96), or 8gb. Less likely to fail than a spinning hard drive and generates no heat.

The motherboard/cpu are fine.
I will verify the function of Intel EXPI9404PT with MT ROS v3; as support was added when I requested it. If you check the change log it was added in 3.0rc6. We have several in full time service without any known issues in Dell PowerEdge 860 systems. If I remember correctly the EXPI9404PTBLK is the bulk pack version of the card.
I also recommend using a flash drive instead of a standard HDD with moving parts. I’d go with a CF-SATA adapter.
Lately we’ve been using Addonics CF adapters with great success.
They have several IDE and SATA versions available; with many internal and external mounting options.
