Throughput of wireless card

We are operating a hotspot with 20 to 30 clients connected at any one time. Sometimes we hear complaints that “the network is slow”. We are now trying to determine what bottlenecks we have on our network. One of the limiting factors is the wireless card.

The question we like to ask the forum is if there is a way to determine what percentage of max. throughput the wireless card is running at, given the momentarily connected clients. (This is meant similarly to the percent of max. capacity indication for a CPU.)

Just look in the Interfaces list, you will see the current throughput on the card. Then check in Wireless AP status, and you will see the current datarate.

If this is a 802.11n card, maximum is around 200-250Mbit in ideal noise-free conditions, if your ISP gives you so much bandwidth. Most likely your bottleneck is the ISP speed, or the client computer.
