Throughput question

Hi,

I’m evaluating the following setup:

  • RB912 carrying a Ubiquiti SR71e card in the miniPCIe slot
  • (the RB912’s on-board radio is disabled)
  • 2 low-gain omni antennas for the SR71e
  • a laptop a few metres away
  • a desktop computer directly-connected to the RB912’s ethernet port

I’m measuring throughput by scp-ing a big file from the laptop to the desktop.

I’m struggling to get throughput beyond 5.0MB/s (usually I get between ~3.5MB/s and 5.0MB/s).
I know that faster speeds are possible: when I remove the RB912 and replace with a UniFi (leaving everything else the same, I get roughly 8.5MB/s.

Signal strength is good. I have an 802.11n connection.
I’ve configured as follows:

  • wlan and ethernet ports bridged
  • wlan interface mode: ap-bridge
  • 2GHz-only-N
  • 20/40MHz HT Below
  • wireless protocol: any
  • both chains enabled (0 & 1, for rx & tx)

Are there any other config items I could change to try to get better throughput?

Thanks in advance,

Alex
