Torching an Interface.. Am I going mad?

Hey chaps, I’ve got several Mikrotik RBs spread over a few networks, when I torch a port I expect to see all traffic on that port? Correct?

Why is it on my CRSes when I torch a port I see nothing unless I torch a master port?

Am I missing something fundamental?

Thanks guys I think I’m going mad…

Because the master port is the real IP interface, where the slave interfaces are ‘detatched’ from the router and acting as simple dumb switch interfaces.

Bums, so on the CRS I can’t see exactly what is going through the slave ports just the whole switch!

Thanks for the reply

Do you have a bridge for your LAN as well? If so, then you could un-slave the switch port and then tie it to the bridge and then you could torch the interface…

… But you can choke the cpu and loose the performance of the switch. That’s the option..
