I am replacing tranzeo ap’s with Mikrotik/RB aps and need to know some capacity information. Here is some background info.
The tranzeo supports only 30 users/ap so I have 4 ap’s on one tower, 2 pointed in the same direction because I have 50 customers in that one direction. The worst thing is that one of the aps is using the same channel as an ap facing a different direction. I know this is a bad setup so I that is why I am switching to a Mikrotik/RB 512/ SuperRange 2.
My question is what kind of user capacity should I be able to expect from this ap. All users are under 6 miles and currently have tranzeo 19dbi cpe’s. New clients will probably have some 802.11g based equipment like 3054 CB3/rootenna.
I currently also use a mikrotik as a hotspot for nat, user auth, and rate limiting on a single 2GHz P4 for all 4 ap’s (90 users)
I am also migrating from hotspot to pppoe in the next couple weeks. Will this make a big difference in capacity.
