Traffic shaping between clients

Hi.

Why doesn’t work my simple traffic shaping rules for wireless clients ?
They work well on the wired router.
How can I shape the clients traffic between each other ?

Thank you.

use queues maybe?

Of course I use them. But it doesn’t work. I create the rules as I did on the wired router. But they do nothing.

are the parent correct???
read the manual to make the correct queue.

What are you all talking about? Since when did queues work between wireless clients of the same AP? As long as there is no routing between them, no queues will work because data stream directly between AP stations is not seen by the router. Router will only see traffic that is routed between different networks or bridged between different ports, not forwarded within one AP. To limit traffic between the clients, configure parameters of the AP wireless card, which i do not remember how are called, but can easily be found (note: 2.9 version only)

Do you have default-forwarding enabled on AP?
If this is enabled then (i believe) the wireless card does the L2 forwarding of the packets without passing them to the AP. One of the most annoying design issues of 802.11. If you turn it off the card will no longer pass the frames automatically but then i dont think the AP will either (i.e no intra-client traffic is possible).

You are true, then they can’t communicate, so I don’t have anything to control.

Well, you do have - just force them to use different networks (with AP performing routing between them)
