Transfer config from RB750 to Hex PoE?

I’ve just bought an RB960PGS to replace my existing RB750. Is there a slick way to transfer my config to the new router, or do I have to set it up manually?

You can do a /export file=somefilename on the RB750, download the file to your computer, then open it in a text editor (wordpad etc) and copy
and paste sections you find valuable into a telnet session to the new router.
Of course this will only work when all parameters used in the commands (like interface names) are the same, so it could be you first need to
arrange that. Or make global substitutions in the file before copy/pasting.
In general, for a straightforward config it is not worth the trouble. It could be worth it when you have a complicated config.

Thanks for your reply.

I have various firewall rules & static DHCP leases that I would prefer to avoid having to reproduce manually if I can. I’ll look into your suggestion of a selective restore from the old backup.

Yes that should be feasible. Remember any “add” commands in the pasted config only add to the already present default config
so you should first delete all firewall rules before pasting in the exported config (or after it, the default rules will be at the top).
For static DHCP leases that won’t be an issue as these don’t exist in the default config.

Pe1chi’s suggestion is the way to go. I swapped my 450G for a hEX doing that.

To be on the safe side, reset your config on the new router to blank before copy and pasting.
