Transparent L2 Passthrough

Hi,

Is it possible with Mikrotik to transparently bridge networks, similar to Juniper L2 Circuit.
So for example if you have a branch with a Mikrotik CCR1036, can you then build for example an EOIP tunnel to another 1036 sitting on the other side of the country, and pass L2 Packets, for example LLDP, LACP, STP etc to the other end completely transparently?

I know with Junipers you create an L2 Circuit across MPLS, is this possible with Mikrotik at all?

Thanks,

That’s exactly what EoIP is for.

…or MPLS if you prefer.

With VPLS i guess…

Thanks!

VPLS has lower MTU overhead. 8 or 12 bytes if I remember correctly.

Some L2 providers have a varying maximal allowed MTU, for example 1526. EoIP will add 42 bytes on typ of the regular 1500 byte frame.
