good day
i ahve my mirkotik transparent proxy already up and running. is there a way to log if someone has tried to access a website. say i allow facebook but wanted to know which ip/mac accessed the site. i dont wish to redirect or deny the website.
thanks in advance
Sorry. please could you be a bit more specific! thanks!
Set the system → log to log messages from proxy. Be ready for a TON of messages. If you don’t have a remove syslog server, look into getting one going for better storage of data, indexing, and search.
thanks for the reply. unfortunately it is not what i want.
surely there is a way to record in a blacklist of sorts people who visit certain websites. im not wanting to log entire proxy
the network im working on is very simple.
thanks
The closest that you are likely to get is either a firewall list with given IP addresses and logging when someone visits the IP address, but that won’t get you the domain that they were visiting.
You might be able to get closer to what you want with a dedicated more capable proxy server, something like Squid instead of the built in one on the MikroTik. I’ve never used a proxy server so I can’t speak to their logging capabilities, but that is the most likely place to get your solution.
