Transparent traffic shaper

We have implemented and configure Mikrotik as a transparent traffic shaper with bridge mode. For this purpose we are using Dual 2.4GHz Xeon Quad-Core CPUs, 10xGigE, 2GB RAM, L6 License. It is working perfectly but before putting it to our production can any body advise us that Mikrotik RouterOS can able to differentiate and prioritize traffic that passes through it which includes 3000 users, 250 Mbps throughput with bridge mode.

I think, it should work. we have routers with one 1Gbit NIC, they route on speeds upto 750 Mbps, 60 kpps with CPU load about 30%.

it would be nice if you tell us about this system in production

I don’t remember… some Intel on ICH9 =)

Hi,

We are using for that purpose, a DELL PowerEdge 1U server with 1 Quad core Xeon 2.4GHz CPU, 2 GB RAM, 2 integrated Broadcom Gig NICs, traffic that passes through reaches around 700 Mbit/s, different priorities for different traffic type etc etc, and we have no problem with that setup, RouterOS works perfect.
