I would like to explore triangulation, with mikrotik, to see if it is a viable way to track my location in my building.
I believe the big wireless vendors have capabilities like this, I haven’t seen anything like that open-source though.
I think there are a few issues:
Attenuation? of the signal indoors effecting accuracy
RSSI is not a very accurate strength measurement
Getting at the data on the AP’s and feeding it into a system that has a map of your building and the precise location of the AP’s in it.
Has anyone got any experience with it, does routeros or the microtik hardware have anything extra that could help here?
Would I be better with 3-4 sector antennas like the SXT G-2HnD criss-crossing each other?
Has anyone seen hardware that gives you the signal strength of each radio individually, you could then have a single MIMO AP with sector antennas to simplify the architecture?
