Trouble connecting 3g modem

I have an rb2011uias-2hnd-in running 6.38.

I didn’t have the original usb otg cable that came with the router so i found a usb micro otg converter. When i connect the huawei e353 3g+ modem, it powers up and i get a green light on the stick.

On the router i can see the device detected from /system resource usb print

 # DEVICE VENDOR NAME SPEED
 0 1:1 Linux 3.3.5 ehci_hcd RB400 EHCI 480 Mbps
 1 1:7 HUAWEI HUAWEI Mobile 480 Mbps

I don’t however see the usb port listed under /port print

 Flags: I - inactive
 # DEVICE NAME CHANNELS USED-BY BAUD-RATE
 0 serial0 1 Serial Console auto

According to the docs I’ve read for this, it should be listed in the port print results.
Needless to say, there’s no ppp interface for the device appearing when i connect it.

Any ideas?

For anyone interested, seems router needs a cold boot to properly detect the device.
It’s working now!!

in doubt: Reboot
