Trouble updating cAP version

I’m using a RouterBOARD 3011UiAS running RouterOS v6.44.3 as my CAPsMAN.

I have three RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD cAPs that I want to upgrade to the latest software. They are currently running version 6.40.4.

I’ve uploaded MIPSBE 6.44.3 to the directory /upgrade that I created on the router. I’ve also set the CAPs MAN Upgrade Policy to “require the same version” and set the Package Path to “/upgrade/routeros-mipsbe-6.44.3.npk”

If I select the cAPs in the Remote CAP tab and select Upgrade, nothing happens. If I select Provision, nothing happens. Occasionally they disappear from the Remote CAP tab, but when they come back the version is still 6.40.4.

What am I missing here? How can I update the software on my cAPs?

The /caps-man manager setting package-path should be set to folder containing packages … not the packages directly. In your case it should be set package-path=/upgrade

Changing the path to the directory containing the package has the same effect. The cAPs disappear from the Remote AP tab and then come back with the same version.

Please check whether Capsman or the Client has something about the upgrade in the systems log. Sometimes we have seen a message stating that upgrade was not possible.

I don’t see anything in the router’s logs and I’m unable to connect to the cAPs using WinBox. They do not show up in the Neighbors tab. I looked up their IP addresses by checking for the MAC address in the Pool > Used Addresses tab, but I still cannot connect.

In WinBox I get the message: ERROR: could not connect to

I found another post stating that wAPs don’t allow WinBox connections over ethernet by default and that you must connect to them via WiFi to enable connections over ethernet. I will attempt get into the wAPs the next time I am on site and report my findings from the error log.
