Trouble with new Routerboard 493G

Hi,

i got a new Routerboard 493G yesterday. On first boot i hear that starting noise from the pizzo and everything looks normal.
I startet Winbox and waited for the Routerboard, but nothing show up, after some time i hear that starting noise again and all
ethernet ports lid up, this repeats every 30-40 seconds.

I read a bit about the recovery procedure, i connected the 493G to my Laptop an started Netinst (6.4) and enabled netboot
with a free ip of the same Subnet of my Notebook. After Powering on my 493G it startet up with that typical noise followed
by one beep, after that it show up on my netinst (i didn’t press reset or anything). I selected the 6.4 packages, and hitting install
after that i got the message “Partitioning and formating harddrive…”, i waited around 30 min. and nothing happends after that.
i repeated it several times without luck.

I connected my Nullmodem Cable from my Cisco Switch over an usb/serial converter with my pc with putty and the following settings
115200,8,n,1 no flow control, but i get nothing, i tried several baud rates and settings, i never got anything. if i plug it into my cisco
i get the console immediately, so cable must be ok.

Any idea how to recover my new 493G? the strange thing is it was’nt booting in the beginning, maybe defect nand?

how do you see [ message "Partitioning and formating harddrive ] that’s mean at first you able to access terminal console cable using putty?

I can see the progress in Netinstall, under the drive/devices list is a status line showing what’s happening.

Several RG493G’s have been failing recently. Return it.

Thanks for your feedback, I already send it in for replacement, I hope the replacement unit do better.
