I replaced a Star-OS AP with a RB 433 and and R52HN wireless cards. All but three of our client CPE came on board and are working well. The three that did not come back on line are all showing as connected in the registration list and showing some traffic on the TX side but absolutely no traffic on the RX side. All three clients are using MIPS-Compex boards sold by Star-OS as the “WAR-1” board with Compex WLM54AG radio cards. The CPE is also showing that it is connected to the AP but I can not pass any traffic on the link. It was suggested that the radio card may have been bad so I replaced one of the cards but then found out that all 3 of the CPE’s were the same board and card. I am thinking that there is some setting that needs changed or is there a known incompatibility with this combination?
We had the same issue several years ago when we started making the switch.
As long as your running 1.4.16 or greater (preferably 1.4.22) you will have a new option on the wireless configuration window called “802.11g-only” and “pure-g” under the “Operating Mode” section. Make sure you have both of those checked.
We had a mixed network of Mikrotik and Star-os devices for many years. When this option came out it made it possible to replace StarOS AP’s with Mikrotik AP’s in areas where we were using 10mhz channels - Up to that point they were incompatible. This option made it possible to slowly convert our network over to everything Mikrotik!
Also - You might make sure you don’t have the rate fixed on either side - and that short preamble is selected as well.
You’ll want to replace those War-1 boards as soon as possible (the 7112hn’s are <$50 so what are you waiting for!?) then enable Nstreme - Your customers will love you!
