Hi!
I’m a total newbie with networks and Mikrotik especially. I’ve been banging my head against the wall with something and i was wondering if you guys can help me out.
I don’t know if what i’m trying to do can even be done.
Imagine a room in a building where the data server is located. This data server is plugged into a CRS326-24g-2s+RM switch. From this switch there are two ethernet cables going to a room of workstation computers and are both plugged into a router RB3011 UiAS-RM.
So the whole topology looks like this:
internet — some other router -------- CRS326 ======= RB3011 ------- workstations
And imagine the data server being connected to CRS326 as well.
Now the questions:
1.) Is it possible to use both ethernet cables going from DATA room to OFFICE for faster connectivity between CRS326 and RB3011? How is that done? I can’t find an example anywhere. Is this called a trunk?
2.) Do i need to use vlans or can this be achieved without vlans?
3.) Can it be used with hardware switching without the use of CPU?
Thank you for your help!
Best regards, Alex
