In Linux, when creating a tunnel there is a ttl parameter which defaults to “inherit”.
This determines the TTL value used in the outer tunnel IP header.
With “inherit” it is copied from the tunneled packet.
It is also possble to set a fixed value, e.g. 64.
In the Mikrotik config for (GRE) tunnels I do not see such a setting.
What bevaiour for tunnel TTL is MikroTik using?
