Two Audiences as AP bridges and Mesh

Hi!

I bought two Audiences to replace my old wi-fi setup. The main idea is to configure both Audiences as AP bridges. One of them will be connected to router. Also I want configure both Audiences for mesh networking. It should look like this -

As I have never configured mesh networking, I’m a bit confused on how to setup it for my needs. I don’t want to use CAPsMAN. So taking something from default config for testing purposes, I ended up in this for both Audiences -

/interface bridge
add name=bridge1
/interface wireless
set [ find default-name=wlan1 ] ssid=MikroTik
set [ find default-name=wlan2 ] band=5ghz-n/ac channel-width=20/40mhz-XX \
    country=latvia disabled=no distance=indoors frequency=5220 installation=\
    indoor mode=ap-bridge ssid=Testing wireless-protocol=802.11 wmm-support=\
    enabled wps-mode=disabled
/interface list
add name=WAN
add name=LAN
/interface wireless security-profiles
set [ find default=yes ] authentication-types=wpa2-psk disable-pmkid=yes \
    mode=dynamic-keys \
    wpa2-pre-shared-key=Pig2020
add authentication-types=wpa2-psk disable-pmkid=yes \
    mode=dynamic-keys name=testSync \
    wpa2-pre-shared-key=SYNC-TEST20
/interface wireless
set [ find default-name=wlan3 ] band=5ghz-n/ac channel-width=20/40mhz-XX \
    country=no_country_set disabled=no frequency=5745 frequency-mode=\
    manual-txpower mode=ap-bridge security-profile=testSync ssid=testSync
/interface bridge port
add bridge=bridge1 interface=ether1
add bridge=bridge1 interface=ether2
add bridge=bridge1 interface=wlan2
add bridge=bridge1 interface=wlan3
add bridge=bridge1 interface=wlan1
/interface list member
add interface=ether1 list=WAN
add interface=ether2 list=LAN
add interface=wlan2 list=LAN
add interface=wlan3 list=LAN
add interface=wlan1 list=LAN
/ip dhcp-client
add disabled=no interface=bridge1
/system identity
set name=Testing

Unfortunately mesh doesn’t work. By following “WPS Sync button”, I can’t get both Audiences to be connected with each other.
Maybe someone can help. Thanks!

I figured out by myself. After configuring second Audience as repeater, I had to manually change some settings for wlan3. Then repeater successfully connected to main Audience.

Firstly I configured both Audiences almost identically, only frequency differed -

/interface bridge
add name=bridge1
/interface wireless
set [ find default-name=wlan1 ] band=2ghz-onlyn country=latvia disabled=no \
    distance=indoors frequency=2437 installation=indoor mode=ap-bridge \
    ssid=XXXX wireless-protocol=802.11 wmm-support=\
    enabled wps-mode=disabled
set [ find default-name=wlan2 ] band=5ghz-n/ac channel-width=20/40mhz-XX \
    country=latvia disabled=no distance=indoors frequency=5220 installation=\
    indoor mode=ap-bridge ssid=XXXX wireless-protocol=\
    802.11 wmm-support=enabled wps-mode=disabled
/interface list
add name=WAN
add name=LAN
/interface wireless security-profiles
set [ find default=yes ] authentication-types=wpa2-psk disable-pmkid=yes \
    eap-methods="" group-key-update=1h mode=dynamic-keys supplicant-identity=\
    MikroTik wpa2-pre-shared-key=XXXX
add authentication-types=wpa2-psk disable-pmkid=yes eap-methods="" \
    group-key-update=1h mode=dynamic-keys name=meshSync supplicant-identity=\
    MikroTik wpa2-pre-shared-key=SYNC-XXXX
/interface wireless
set [ find default-name=wlan3 ] band=5ghz-a/n channel-width=20/40mhz-XX \
    disabled=no mode=ap-bridge security-profile=meshSync ssid=meshSYNC
/interface bridge port
add bridge=bridge1 interface=ether1
add bridge=bridge1 interface=ether2
add bridge=bridge1 interface=wlan2
add bridge=bridge1 interface=wlan3
add bridge=bridge1 interface=wlan1
/interface list member
add interface=ether1 list=WAN
add interface=ether2 list=LAN
add interface=wlan2 list=LAN
add interface=wlan3 list=LAN
add interface=wlan1 list=LAN
/ip dhcp-client
add disabled=no interface=bridge1
/system clock
set time-zone-name=Europe/Riga
/system identity
set name="Audience"

After that I configured second Audience as repeater. Then I manually changed mode and security profile for wlan3. Virtual adapter called wlan4 was automatically created after I configured second Audience as repeater. Basically this is what was changed -

/interface wireless security-profiles
add authentication-types=wpa2-psk disable-pmkid=yes eap-methods="" \
    group-key-update=1h mode=dynamic-keys name=wlan3-meshSYNC-repeater \
    supplicant-identity=MikroTik wpa2-pre-shared-key=SYNC-XXXX
/interface wireless
set [ find default-name=wlan3 ] band=5ghz-a/n channel-width=20/40mhz-Ce \
    disabled=no frequency=5520 mode=station-bridge \
    security-profile=wlan3-meshSYNC-repeater ssid=meshSYNC
add disabled=no mac-address=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX master-interface=wlan3 name=\
    wlan4 security-profile=wlan3-meshSYNC-repeater ssid=meshSYNC

After second Audience connects to first one, it gets IP address from my router. Restarting one or the other router doesn’t change anything, they will automatically connect to each other after few moments.
