Two fans simultaneously on CCR1016 series?

Hi,

Is it possible to force RouterOS using two fans simultaneously on CCR1016 series?
Currently it is using only one fan (main or auxiliary).

I don’t have CCRs so no experience.
But I did it with my Dlink and Cisco switches. just opened that and add one extra fan

CCR already has two fans but only one of them spinning - main or auxiliary. I do wish two fans spinning simultaneously.
Is there a way to do so via RouterOS?

Same problem with 1100AHX2.
I joined the two fans with a cable and plugged it into main.
Now both works in the same time.
Just wondering if this is intended or a malfunction.

Again, if you read the provided documentation, it should be clear that this is intended.

What are the odds that you would buy and receive two devices that are both vastly different models (RB1100AHx2, CCR1016) with vastly different architectures and that they would both happen to have the same kind of defect or malfunction?

If System Health shows only one “Active Fan” and also allows you to select only one fan to use, why would you think that both can be active simultaneously?

You can argue about whether you think this is a good design or not, or whether you like the design or don’t like it, but it seems pretty clear to me what the designers intended.

There is no need to run both at the same time. The unit gets good cooling with one fan. The second fan is there only as backup, if the first fails. Try to stop it with a pencil, and you will see how this works.

So there is no way to force running both at the same time in RouterOS?

sigh

No.

Write script which mixed after 1second MAIN/AUX - MAIN/AUX.
Or make hardware change - both fans on MAIN

If both connected to MAIN there is no FAN speed information :frowning:

But why ?

I replaced original fans to more silent ones and they have less CFM than original. So I need to spin both in order to keep the best cooling.

CCR with pasive cooling is not suitable for you?

In OP’s defense, CCR1009 != CCR1016. A 1009 may not have fit the requirements.

I know. But maybe he don´t need 16cores

I already do have 1016
My question is not what to buy from CCR, I just wish to have two fans spinning at the same time.

You just need to move second fan connector from header 2 to header 3 counting from Left to right Then both fans will be on.
if it on header 2 it will work as backup.

Thanks for your help.
Unfortunately there is no header 3 on CCR1016-12S-1S+ (which I have) :frowning: It is only on CCR1016-12G-BU.

nice…

But what happens when the router or switch reach high temperature (mine is +70)?
Like Computer goes off?
