we are planning to replace two of our Cisco edge routers with Mikrotik devices. Both of the routers run ebgp and ibgp internally, handling a full routing table. Both of the routers have ip addresses in /31 networks of two different transit carriers (for example 1.1.10.1 and 2.1.10.2).
The issue I am facing is a simple one: With this setup I can only reach either 1.1.10.1 or 2.1.10.2 from externally depending on the current preferred bgp route for the return traffic. What is the best practice to solve this on edge routers? A firewall rule for input traffic with route-marking? I am kind of hoping for a more performant solution…
