Two WiFi bands mixed with one ssid

Hello, is it possible to configure WiFi bands (2,4 &5g) working like one ? I mean connecting to one and when the signal drops and automatically disconnect(possibly from 5g when going out of range ) connect to 2,4 g . Is it possible with any way ? As I noticed other companies ( unify etc ) have easy config , like combine bands and do it automatically.

Yes, that’s quite normal to do.

What device are we talking about ?
Did you already try to set it up ?

Just set the same SSID and authentication on both interfaces and join them to the same layer 2 domain.

It’s a hap ac3

In that case you also have the option to add wifiwave2 drivers.
Even better roaming, especially when you also enable Fast Transition for both radios.

How i add it ? i should find a video!

in my experience it’s preferrable to keep the ssid’s separate so that the client device doesn’t land up on the slower band and then there’s no way to change it. the primary ssid gets used for 5ghz band and then the 2ghz ssid is appended with “_2ghz” or similar
