U-5HnD Initial Setup

Hello,

I’m trying to setup a U-5HnD right out of the box. I tried to get to it using WinBox using the ip address 192.168.88.1 but couldn’t get to it. Couldn’t ping it either. Tried to connect to it by MAC address but it doesn’t show up in the list. I’ve tried direct connect to my laptop and through a switch. One thing I did notice was that my DHCP server handed out an ip address to it (could tell by the MAC address) so I tried that IP Address and still couldn’t connect. The SXT 5HnD I have works fine. Is there something I’m missing with the U-5HnD? Why doesn’t the MAC Address show up in Winbox?

Hi bclien,

Make sure you’re not trying to connect on ether1 as by default it is setup as the gateway port and blocks winbox connections (given the device has no password).
Try connecting to ether2-5 and use winbox from there.

That was it. Thanks. After reading your post I went back and looked at the quick start guide and sure enough it was there.
