I have two UBNT radios (not using TDMA or anythign fancy), one set to Access Point WDS and the other to Station WDS.
Is it possible to replace the AP WDS one with a radio card and stick it into my RouterBOARD, configure it to be AP WDS and have it comunicate to the other UBNT radio as long as the settings are the same?
However, when using the wireless card to scan, the station-wds side is never found. It does show in the IP->Neighbors list…
The station side radio can scan and does find the MikroTik radio though…
This is normal and expected, a scan will only show Access Points.
If your Ubiquity Station-WDS device is seeing the AP, that’s good (it means you have both sides using the same channel size, etc). You should be able to get it to associate with the AP.
You might or might not immediately be able to get associated in WDS mode (on the Mikrotik AP side, under the “Wireless” list, you should see an interface named “wds1”, “wds2”, “wds3” etc for each station that successfully associates in WDS mode).
If you are not getting associated in WDS mode, check to see that the wireless interface (“wlan1” etc) on the Mikrotik has “WDS Mode” set to “dynamic” (unless you know otherwise, and have set up a static WDS connection)
