Ubiquiti EdgeRouter 6P 'powered' by MikroTik RBGPOE with 4-Pair PoE Injector

I successfully managed to power an EdgeRouter 6P via Mikrotik RBGPOE Injector(s) from an Ubiquiti POE-24V-30W 4-Pair PoE Injector. It would be better if the EdgeRouter 6P would offer 4-Pair PoE input, but it does not like the EdgePoint R6.

Normally pins 1,2,3,6 are used for data and 4,5,7,8 for PoE & data at the same time. With 4-Pair PoE all the pins are used for data and PoE. simultaneously. Like 802.3bt-2018 but ‘passive’. (1245+ 3678-)

To get the power from all four pairs I use two 2-Pair PoE Injectors and I am crossing out 1-5, 2-4, 3-7, 6-8 two times so the pin assignment gets correct again:

This works also for other (eg. Ubiquiti and MikroTik) devices with 24V DC barrel jack input.

Please can either Ubiquiti or MikroTik create a Product with two Ethernet Ports and one DC barrel connector which accomplishes the same? That would be really great and much less headache for crimping the connectors.

As a proof of concept i built this:

Intentional cross-post.

guess, you should introduce this to an insurance-agent of your trust to get a rate … a good rate … !?
… maybe even homeland-security should be asked for any objections
… who wants to be stuck in a guantanamo-style facility over x-mas by accident ? :open_mouth:
