I’d recommend that they figure out everything ubiquiti plans on doing and supporting it, whatever it is.
Well that would be nice but back in reality UBNT is a PITA to deal with direct, getting support directly from them is a mission and i doubt they would be willing to hand out details of their plans to MT.
I know of a group of people in my country tring to get some samples on loan to test for a country wide deployment, all up they were looking at buying 10k unit’s+ of SR2 and SR5’s, UBNT took a month to reply to their phone calls or e-mails and then insisted that they buy 100unit’s - needless to say the group didnt and looked at other options
First of all - UBNT has been awesome to deal with as far as we were concerned. I do not know about your friends and what they were proposing, maybe there was some mis-communication, I don’t know. Do you think that maybe they were trying to protect their dealer stucture that is in place? That is what a good company does. We have dealt with their support when MT was overdriving the SR2 cards. They were more than helpful, and helped to prove to MT that the problem was with them. They could have said it was MT’s problem, and went on. They worked directly with MT to solve the issue. A rep from UBNT also occassional visits the forums to see about any comments that are made, to be proactive. You will see him post - although very rarely. His goal is to make sure the product is working properly - not increase sales. I have talked to him and have been very impressed with the company. I am not saying they are perfect, they have had troubles with production. Initially they did have some problems with a few cards, but they have corrected the issues. Try dealing with Engenious if you want to see PITA, they have no answers, and really don’t care.
I’m surprised that UBNT hasn’t tested their cards with Mikrotik already (from another forum it’s obvious they haven’t)…seems like it’d help them get the word out.
Anyway, where are the speed, range, and overall tests and opinions people? Looking forward to hearing how these do in the real world. Want to try some out but kind of holding back to see how the first round goes.

Uldis already wrote about frequency configuration, as well sticker is provided with SR9 frequency chart explanation.
You have to set correct frequency channel, and other configuration is the same as for regular a/b/g links.
Yeah I have tried that, but for some reason I don’t see the other side. The two units are less then 10 feet apart.
Well how about the ablity to select any of the channels not just 4.

You do realize the “free” band starts at 903, not 900.
I’ve found this page very informative about who’s-using-what:
so I just got my SR9 and have been playiong around.
When I put the unit right next to each other I get great signal and get great throughput.. around 24meg UDP.
When I take them about 25 feet apart into another building.. IT falls to pieces and I can barely keep a connection, with ping times in the 500+ range
My noise floor for all channels is around -78.. uhg..
I use 900 canopy in other palces.. but the interface sucks.. I want MK!!
I also have a Avlan 900 P-t-P setup and that works perfect.. but it is only p-t-p
I am using 9db yagi antennas and mini-itx board that work great with any other cards.

Im alittle confused.. I thought we were in 900mhz space? THis makes me think we should treat it like B or G in which case I can say that B always seems to work better than G for outdoor long range shots.
SHould I set it to B and have 11meg bitrate?
Which band have you tried? Try out 5Mhz band or 10Mhz band.
What antennas are you using?
I tired all the different bands, and the only one that would work at the 25t distance was B.
THe noise floor is a bit concerning, I took the unit and drove it all through the mountains with no antenna plugged into it and my noise floor never changed from around -80.. it went as low as -83 and as high as -78.
this noise floor seems like it would make it impossible to work at any distance. the SNR would just be to bad.
the card is rated to goto -93
Is the noise floor reading perhaps wrong?
Are there paging towers nearby? Your card just could be faulty as well.

I drove the unit through the mountains and down to town. I think the noise must change in a 15 mile drive into valleys and such. and for this test no antenna was connected.
Also I have a Avalan 900 p-t-p that works perfect and a Motortolla canopy that works. So that makes me think that if it was noise then those would not work either
In my drive I covered 15 miles and went from 2500ft elevation down to 500ft elevation. Im sure the noise should have changed somewhere in there if it wa a pager 900 tower.

You are shooting yourself in the foot. Connect an antenna and get the radio/antenna out of your vehicle into the open air. Your mileage will improve and your life will become golden.
Wandering around with 27dB radios with no antennas is not a good idea.

when only checking for noise.. having no antenna is the best way to see the local noise
an antenna will only make it more
