Ubiquiti XR5 RB532 Reboots

I am testing RB532 with the XR5 card.

When I set the Band to 5GHZ-5MHz the WinBox Closes immediately without even applying the changes.

Have triied this with several RB532s with the same results.

What could be the cause?

how about from telnet or console? maybe you are simply connecting to the device over the link which you are changing  ?

Hello Tgrand,

I saw you posted this problem, so I went back into the lab to test. I have a couple 532 boards here that I have been testing with.

All of them are running 2.9.38 software.

I was unable to reproduce this problem, and have stable links at 5/10Mhz operation.

If you can provide me with more details of your setup, ie Power Supply/PoE injector type/System your running on, so that I can more accuratly model your setup that would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Mike

The interface I am connecting too BTW is the ether1 port.

I did try a 12V Power pack with a 12V auto power adapter and also tryed an 18V dc power supply.
Both times NO POE.

I did open the terminal in winbox, and set it through the terminal and all is well, but only from the terminal. If I try to open up the WLan Dialog for that interface (when set to 5GHz-5MHz) winbox again closes as if as soon as the text is posted to the dropdown control.

The ROS version is 2.9.40
5GHz works from the gui dropdown, so do 5GHz turbo, 5GHz - 10MHz.
But as quickly as I select the 5GHz-5MHz from the dropdown winbox closes abruptly.

Just a note that the RB532 is not an A version and not a revision 5.

I am successfully using the XR2s in the field with great results (have not yet tested 5MHz channel on these cards).

One more thing to note: The RB532 is NOT rebooting, just that winbox closes abruptly.

What kind of performance are you seeing on the XR2 compared to the SR2?

SMA

winbox closing could be even a windows problem, it doesn’t explain anything. please connect over serial console and see if there are any problems with the router itself.

I found Mikrotik at Ubiquiti web site as one of the resellers , but when i wrote to sales@mikrotik.com the reply that the dont sell these cards (XR2,5) !!!
and they told me that R52 is tested by some users and they were able to reach 50-75Km !!! is that possible with 65mW card in a city with many transmition towers and WISP’s ??

that is possible with clear line of sight and no interference on the used channel, appropriate antennas must be used.

I did mention that I did tests using XR2 not problems.

When testing the XR5 by replacing the XR2 with the XR5 and reconfiguring the Winbox displayed the problem.

When replacing the XR5 with the XR2 the problems went away.

This would indicate that it is not a windows problem.

I did however try another newly installed PC with winbox and had the same results.

ONLY with the XR5 putting into 5GHz-5MHz.

And as I already mentioned, the XR5 can successfully be configured to 5GHz-5MHz mode from the console AND SERIAL. It works just fine.
When in this mode of operation, when I open up the WLAN interface dialog in winbox, winbox again immediately closes.

The only way to interact with the interface is through the Terminal window within winbox, or serial console.

I dont know about the X5, but TO THIS DAY the RB532 is the ONLY board that can not take the NMP-8602 @ all rates fixed @ 30db.

please lets not get into the debate of why use Fixed at 30, (i have my reason, it improves performance, tested MANY times, have cards running over 1yr..) just know that:

RB133
RB153
RB112
RB230
WRAP 2.e
WRAP 2d

ALL will allow nmp 8602@ 30db

532 keeps rebooting until removed, and set back to default and then re inserted.

may not be related, but worth pointing out.

How is the XR5 performance compared to SR5? Any noticeable difference?
