I have 100% Mikrotik network and on a busy mast using NV2 for the ap’s sectors + PTP links + some 802.11, after sorting out co-location interference I have NO disconnections and a very stable system running V5.20.
I also have many mikrotik only AP and clients. Here I wanted to demonstrate the difference between Mikrotik and UBNT already in common 802.11.
It is true that all are in noisy environments. But UBNT holds several days. Mikrotik only a few hours, sometimes just minutes. And also talking about NV2 and AIRMAX.
Otherwise, I have a network of only 90 percent mikrotik. And unfortunately I was very disappointed NV2, moving constantly in noisy environments.
When UBNT are so good where the hell is tunneling protocols EoIP for example
how to add more SSID-s and put on different sub networks
sorry but “one button is not enough” same as “smartphones are for smart people”
everything else is more or less IQ capacity
Even UBNT users prefer to use DUDE monitoring, guess why?
True. Ubnt works out-of-the-box, mikrotik needs fine-tunning, which can sometimes be quite painful. But it’s mostly very rewarding after. We operate 100% mikrotik network in an extremely rf polluted environment and mostly only intentional changes or power disruption resets the uptime of sometimes hundreds of days..
Mikrotik is a lot more configurable, and easy to tune. Its also have a lot more features.
I had some ubnt devices for a test. IP adress to a vlan was scripted, and all was ok. untill upgrading software. Couse of the script (removing bridge, adding bridge) the ubnt device, stop responding at ethernet. (no link) I had to drive to about 20 customer, push the reset button, and configure without the script. After this no more ubnt.
I still miss, autochannel in mikrotik. That must be the only feature better in ubnt.
It (was) also to low l2mtu at interfaces, so MPLS was not possible.
ubnt as radio card, is another story. norting is more rock solid than XR2 and SR5. (maybe new groove 2.4,still in test)
What I’ve noticed is that UBNT shows better uptime in poor signal situations and Mikrotik works better with poor signal, even though it shows more disconnects.
MT tends to drop and reconnect fast enough that the customer will never notice it while streaming. If my UBNT clients drop, I tend to get phone calls.
Recently I have very bad experience with nv2 and nstreme on my AP.
Customers complain all the time the internet interrupts, dont work correctly, bandwidth is very low.
Since I have changed to 802.11 more than a week ago I have no phones with complaints.
I look forward to ROS 5.21 official version
yes I try
Disconnect problem is solved but bandwidth is low and CCQ
I used 10MHz Only-N MIMO SXT and Omnitik
Nv2 tdma-period-size=5
Channel= 5205MHz
recived on Omnitik is only 15MBit
user have signal: -58/-53 dBm
Maybe I’m doing something wrong.
can anyone confirm that NV2 is very sensitive to interference?
