unable to browse websites after ISP change

got a curly one here,
We have notice an issue on several RB951G-2hd routers running various firmware when we change the ISP provider who is connecting via PPPoE our new connection comes up and we can ping and resolve DNS names as expected. Issue arises when trying to browse websites, most websites will fail to load although sites like youtube will load.

We have tried the following to rectify the issue.

  • Delete exisiting PPPoE interface and create a new one
  • Restarting router multiple times
  • Change MTU settings on the PPPoE interface
  • Turn off all firewall
  • Reset the modem that is providing PPPoA to PPPoE passthrough to default configuration (Draytek DV120)
  • Take a backup – factory reset device and reapply backup

The only thing that we have found that fixes the issue is to perform a factory reset of the device and re-import of our .rsc file to recreate the configuration. This is not an ideal solution for customers that we migrate from one ISP to another to be done remotely.

has anyone else come across this issue? latest customer that we had this happen to was me and i am running 6.30 rc22 but we have had it with customers running various RoS versions, upgrading firmware does not resolve this issue

Thanks
Rob

maybe it’s DNS issue? Have you changed dns settings after ISP change?
