Unable to connect to router for config

Hi all.

I’ve a RB951Ui-2Hnd which I purchased a few months ago. I had a play but the config seemed beyond me so I put it away for another day.

Tonight I tried to connect again with no success.

I’ve reset the unit back to factory settings (paperclip to the reset switch next to the power in) but I don’t seem to be able to connect.

Using a patch cable to port 1 and an xp laptop, the pc reports that the local area connection is unplugged.

I’m getting a loop of strangled\double beep code, and the pc try’s to connect again.

The MikroTik wifi hotspot is showing but I’m not able to connect. I’m not being asked for a new password and the pc tries to aquire a network address, but come up ‘unconnected’.

Any suggestions ?

Cheers

David

Use other than port1. A firewall may be applied in some standard settings on this port. And use default admin user without password after the reset.

loop of strangle\double beep code sounds like a hardware issue to a newbie like me
Have you tried with hard reset.

  1. Unplug the power of router.
  2. press the reset button .
  3. Plug the power button while pressing the reset button.
Also try changing to different Ethernet ports if connection fails.

Thanks for the replies.

I’ll try the other ports and see how I get on. I did try reset it several times without success last time but have managed to reset the unit before.

Stupidly I realised after posting that I was using the wrong power adaptor and have now swapped to the correct one. The unit powers up and I get a wifi signal so hopefully it’s OK. Still not able to log in or get a connection so I wondered if perhaps the wrong power may have corrupted the firmware - is it possible to reload it without being able to log into the unit, perhaps via the USB socket.

Looks like it’s OK.

I connected via a different client on Lan port #2 and gained access. I had to reset the WIFI pw for some reason but once reset I could connect via wifi.

I get the feeling that some of the documentation needs an update.
