hi,
i am unable to upgrade my RB951G-2HnD
the current installed version is 6.39.1, and when go to “system → packages” and click in “check for updates” after the .npk is downloaded and the router reboots, nothing is changed.
already tried with netinstall, and after i click “install”, no progress bar appears, it just “grey out” for a few seconds and nothing happens.
i tried going to “files”, and manually upload the file routeros-mipsbe-6.43.7.npk, but the file doesn’t appear, and i think it is being automatically deleted… i tried changing the extension to something else than “npk”, and the file gets correctly uploaded.
do you know any procedure i could try? maybe an script to reset the config and manually upgrade by selecting the npk with another name?
or maybe a command line upgrade that let’s me select the file?
Upgrade fails often when memory file system free space is low. What is left on your device?
Try to uninstall any unused package (but first to back/export of config).
Freeing up space helped me in most cases.
If that does not work, netinstall (well explained in the wiki and pretty fail save).
Netinstall: Make sure firewall does not block the connection (first Netinstall launch)
Does Netinstall see your device when you launch it?
Have you set all 3 IP addresses correctly? GW/router/laptop?
It happens that you need to close and restart Netinstall couple of times (don’t disconnect or reboot
the router), before it actually work and will start to reformat internal memory. (and this might take some time so be patient).
there is plenty of free space on the device, and i did a factory reset.
yes, i see the device in netinstall perfectly fine, but after i select it, and then the .npk file and press “install”, nothing else happens.
i think that the device got a malware, i am trying to remove it but it is deep or in nowhere i can see it.
it didn’t work either, the file is automatic deleted after i upload it.
(if i change the “.npk” extension to something else it works but obviusly nothing changes)
finally it worked by using netinstall in another computer!
(windows 10, opening netinstall as administrator and allowing the firewall when asked)
thank you!
