Upgrading RB1200 Router to version routeros-powerpc-5.6.npk from v5.17.. The upgrade procedure fails, and error log returns that 5.17 is newer than 5.6 and it will not install
What to do? Need to upgrade from 5.17 because it is not compatible with ISPadmin API. Should I Downgrade to 5.6?lol

I know.. That’s the problem:) I try to put anything higher than 5.17(the stable version shown in Mikrotik/downloads) and it fails to upgrade with error log that the version I’m trying to install(5.2,5.6, 5.7) is OLDER than 5.17.

replace the dot with a dash and then maybe it will make more sense. these are not decimal numbers.

Hey I saw the other posts too, and had the same attitude you have.. But then it happened to me.. Upgrade fails, and Log says that 5.6 is an older version than 5.17.. By the way.. I have bootloader 2.38. I will desist on the upgrade until 6 comes out:( Maybe it wont tell me that 6 is older too.çç
Human typo-my fault… the name of the file was and is correct with a dash.
Instead of assuming idiocy, have a little faith.. I know that version 5.6 is newer(dah), but the router nevertheless fails to upgrade with the error message that 5.6(or 5.2, 5.7, etc) is older than 5.17. Maybe message from matrix like follow the white rabbit.
In any case I give up and will wait for 6
5.6 is older than 5.17 so the error is correct - so much for having faith 
You are trying to downgrade the router, as 5.17 is 11 versions higher than 5.6
Damit man, it IS older.
Learn how to count to 20.
Edit: Does it make more sense if I told you 5.6 = 5.06 and 5.17 = 5.17 ?
