I have a problem in mikrotik. Before considering to my problem I would like to describe the circumstances of our Core Router. Our router is serving as a vpn (pptp server) and uses external servers for Radius AAA and cache server. Also there are some users having Invalid IP going to the internet by NAT and restricted by Mangle marking and queuing. Meanwhile, there are some common firewall filters.
The specification of the router is as follows:
CPU – 3GHZ X86 Intel
RAM – 2GB
License level: 5
RouterOS version: 4.16
Having good performances for several days (The days is depend on our concurrent vpn users and the Bandwidth usage), two problem (but not at the same time) occur as follow:
1- People who are not already authenticated in radius via pptp cannot connect. Although users who have been connected before this problem keep connecting to the network. Also our NAT users work fine without any problem. For troubleshooting, when I want to login to the mikrotik by Winbox, it logs in and accepts password but everything is blank. You can click on interface and it shows no interfaces. I should reboot the router and everything would come back to ordinary condition.
2- The Rouer unexpectedly reboots and causes missing the synchronization between pptp user interfaces and their Queues. It makes our users exceed their predefined BW Quota and take advantages of whole BW.
done some solutions for the above troubles for instance, upgrading to a newer and less faulty routerOS version, changing whole hardware, but none of them was effective.
My experiences show that low usage of BW and the number of vpn users at weekend effect the manner of our router.
