Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew how to unhide(or unmask may be the correct term) the host names of devices on my network when using an IP Scanner tool. I am currently using Advanced IP Scanner V1.5, but have used other scanners to quickly identify devices on my network. Now that I use a Mikrotik 750RB I have lost the ability to see the host or device names when ip scanning. I am able to ping the devices so they do show up in my IP scanner list, but the names have all been masked as: host-IPADDRESS.private.mylinuxisp.com. I have logged in to the router via winbox and also using the terminal to see if i could find a setting somewhere that would allow the host names to be shown but have not found it. I also search the forums here and google which I thought I would surely find the answer but have not. Anyone have an suggestions?
When using Advanced IP Scanner, instead of seeing the true host/device names, the results are below. The addresses that end in less than 100 are static ip addresses and the ones ending in over 100 are ip addresses assigned by the router(dhcp):
Host-192-168-2-10.private.mylinuxisp.com
Host-192-168-2-45.private.mylinuxisp.com
Host-192-168-2-51.private.mylinuxisp.com
Host-192-168-2-102.private.mylinuxisp.com
Host-192-168-2-104.private.mylinuxisp.com
Host-192-168-2-110.private.mylinuxisp.com
I would like to configure my 750RB so that I can see the true host names on my network.
