Unifi access point

Is there something special that needs to be done to get a unifi access point to work with mikrotik routers? My previous router died and I replaced it but now my access point stopped working. I was ab;e to get the access point to work using a home router so I know it is working and it was working fine on my previous router. Any ideas? is mikrotik blocking access to my unifi?

Yes, if you configure it properly

Is a little to less information to help you. Is unifi ac finding the controller? You need to set the dhcp option or make sure on the network dns resolve the unifi controller to the right in.
Did you use unifi dhcp server ?

The access point is configured with a static ip address and works fine when attached to a standard home router. I am not using dchp it’s static. The computers attached to the Microtik get ip address and connect to the internet without any problems. Is there a firewall blocking it? How would it know it’s an access point?

Default rules allow all from lan.
How would the unifi know the mikrotik is a router?

Since we got no clue what ur setup is like ig it’s just guessing.
And what even is your issue?

How about I configure my boot right into your asshole. You are worthless piece of shit, if you have nothing constructive to say then shut the fuck up. [/quote]

I would offer to help but seeing comments like this you can forget it

.:round_pushpin:.

Can you at least share your config (of the router)?

/export file=anynameyoulike

Remove serial and any other private info, post between code tags by using the </> button.

What IP does your accesspoint have? And how is it controlled (App/cloud/something else)?

In your case I would set the accesspoint to DHCP instead of client. Perhaps as first step, as I expect it to work afterwards.

How about I configure my boot right into your pinhole. You are worthless piece of shift, if you have nothing constructive to say then shut the fuchs’ endothelialkibble up.

I think you broke the record for swear words and insults in a single post.
Not even a flaming Lama could have done worse.

I was about to write you the reason, but given the natural fertilizer you write about, you can stick your access point where you've already suggested it to others.

When a person’s first instinct is to write something utterly useless and provides zero help that is the type of response that person will receive. If he has nothing constructive to add to the conversation then he should just mind his own business and refrain from posting anything at all. His smug attitude and rude response deserved every bit my criticism. If you don’t want to help either than you can take your own advice.

The issue is the unifi access point cannot connect to the internet. I am able to connect to the wifi with my laptop and phone but cannot browse the web. The access point was configured using Unify windows software. When I connect a standard home router the access point it works and I can connect devices to it and internet. When I swap out the home router and use the Mikrotik the access point cannot connect to the internet. I have tried DCHP and static ip addresses for the access point and neither makes any difference. It’s as if something in the Mikrotik router knows I am using an access point and is blocking it. I have other computers running on the same network and they don’t have any problems. The router assigns them ip addresses and they are able to connect to the internet without any problems. I’m not sure what it could be hence the original post. FYI, I’m using sfp adapters to convert the signal to ethernet and plugging all my devices in using those.

I do not have unify devices other than the access point. It was configured with unify’s windows software. The microtik is supposed to assign the access point an ip address which it does not. So then i configured the access point with a static ip address but that does not work either. The internet just does not work with this access point and I know that it’s possible because it was working with the previous Mikrotik which is the same model as this one. I don’t have a backup of that one and I was not the person that installed it. Any help would be appreciated.

The access point is configured with the unify windows software. i have tried it with DHCP and static ip and it does not work. Once the access point is configured it no longer needs the software it just picks up an ip address from your router and beams the internet to your devices. It should be plug and play and it is for 99% of routers in the world.

Your explanation is too vauge and no conifg = no help

Otherwise sounds like the old unifi dhcp issue:
https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/qtzyok/unifi_ap_clients_not_getting_dhcp/?rdt=46360

Otherwise, reset your config and start from scratch.

Where does the percentage come from?
Can you also please provide the config?

Have you tried connecting a computer to the accesspoint’s LAN cable? Does the computer get an IP address?
Have you also created on the Unifi forum?

Do your old router and the new MikroTik one have the same LAN subnet? If not there’s probably somewhere in the UniFi controller setting where old addresses/address range are hardcoded.

First update both the UniFi controller (on Windows) as well as the firmware of the access points to the latest available version. Then on the controller check the following:

  • Go to Settings → Networks → Default (and other networks you’ve set up, if any). Check if DHCP Guarding is enabled. If yes, either turn it off or add the IP address of the MikroTik router to the list of allowed DHCP servers.

  • Go back up one level (main Network page) and maybe temporarily disable Rogue DHCP Server Detection.

  • Check if the AP can now get its IP address from DHCP.

  • Try to SSH to the access point and check network connectivity (with ping & co). The SSH credentials can be found under Settings → System → Advanced → Device Authentication.

My first instinct was correct still have my lama sense workin.
/file=anynameyouwish ( minus router serial number, any public WANIP information, keys ).

Answer is the same, it will work if you configure it properly.
The problem is you have not provided the FACTS, or EVIDENCE with which folks here can actually help you fix your config.

If you want to get your knickers in a twist not my problem, I have over many years implored Mikrotik to provide some education and basic knowledge,
to produce useful first time posts on the forum for new posters, such that problems are well understood by the reader and the adequate information needed is provided
to begin to assess accurately the problem areas, instead of playing whackamole and repeatedly asking for the config.

So if your upset, be mad at MT for not ensuring your issue was well communicated understood and fixed by now ( and it surely would have been!! )
