I use the following configuration to offer internet access:
P3@1000Mhz
256MB ran
2x R52 miniPci
2x sectors 17dBi
The problem is that the latency is very high, though there are only 10-12 users on each miniPCI and there is no huge traffic and also system resources are 90% free or more!
I made the following setup: I’ve created a bridge between eth1+wlan1+wlan2 with STP on, set AP Bridge, and the same SSID for both cards, I choosed channel 1 for the first and channel 11 for the next, I mention that there are no other wireless networks. I tried to disable one card but without any effect!
Try turning STP off. You only need Spanning Tree Protocol where there is the likelihood you could create loops in your network. Unless you have clients with two WiFi cards or are simultaneously connected to Ethernet and WiFi there should be no possibility for loops in your network and hence no need for STP.
What are the reported signal levels? How far are your Clients from the AP?
If your Clients are Laptops don’t expect to go more than 100m without using a specialist WiFi card and external antenna.
I’ve never used Zcom, but it’s pretty irrelevant if you haven’t configured your MikroTik router correctly. The vast majority of people do get good results with MT, hence it’s popularity. However, as I found out when I started with MT, the learning curve can be painful as there are so many variables that can make a huge difference to the results achieved. It took me six weeks of testing before I was happy to deploy in a production environment and even then things didn’t work quite the same when put 3Km apart instead of 2m!!
If you want help with getting your setup right then post answers to my questions, otherwise you’ll likely get no response from anyone, as just saying it doesn’t work doesn’t give anyone a chance to help you.
I have another question: I made this access point for outdoor, so I needed to use suplimentary coolers, one of them is oriented toward the R52s, this may cause a magnetic field that can affect the radio, because it seems to my the signal level is pretty low? And another question is that that I use a source of 90W and don’t know if is enough to handle my confirguration ( i use 4-5 suplimentary coolers)!
