I don’t know if this is a Dude problem or a RouterOS problem, so I’ll post here…
I have several units that will “disappear” from time to time. Most of them are a pain to catch, but this one has been sticky, so I can actually demonstrate what’s going on.
Anyways, check this out… The Dude reports this unit down for hours…
Yup, that was the first image in my post. Ping from The Dude goes nowhere. I also can’t open a terminal or log in via Winbox. The MT unit is also non-responsive from other machines at the core.
So, the second screenshot, I used the remote connection tool to telnet in from another unit, and pinged back to the router at the core. At this time, monitoring came back alive and all is good.
This unit is 3 sites away from The Dude… every link is a wds bridge between Cisco switches. I’m thinking that the forwarding database is getting stale somewhere in the middle. As a stop-gap, I created a job to ping the gateway periodically. So far, the phantom flapping is gone.
