Hi guys,
I’ve been using mikrotik products for quite some time now (2 years), love it “most of the time…” ![]()
Problem is, i always had bad experience with updating them from old to new version (5.X, not the new 6.X)
I have a 5.20 RB751U-2HnD (mipsbe) that i would like to update to the last 6.X version, then export the conf, import it in a new router, and swap them (the old router is starting to have some issues, need to be restarted quite often etc, maybe the update will fix the problem).
Problem is, it’s a working environnement, i can’t allow myself to lose everything, so, what would you consider the best way to do it ?
Update straight to 6.25 ?
Try to update gradually, like 5.2 to 5.4 etc etc … ?
By the way the mikrotik has the “usermanager” package, any thing i should now beside exporting the database /tool database backup ?
Another one about that subjet, can i upgrade using only the update package ? or do i need to use the full one since it has usermanager?
Thanks a lot
Regards
Andy
