Update to 3.0b4 problem

I was going to try out the beta version of the Dude (from 2.1), but I’ve run into a problem. I backed up the config, and tried installing 3.0b4 over the old version (leaving the ‘reset configuration’ option unchecked). The install happened fine, but when running the Dude, I would get an “Error Connecting to Server” (I think, it blinked on and off and then remained Disconnected). So I uninstalled the Dude, and reinstalled 3.0b4. I was then able to start it with a blank config, but when I tried importing the config, I got disconnected and couldn’t reconnect (same error). So I uninstalled again and installed 2.2 and restored the config without any big problems (one of my SNMP profiles lost what version it was supposed to use, but that was easily fixed).

Does anyone have any idea what I can do get 3.0 running, or at least find out what the problem is? I can live with 2.2, but some of the 3.0 features I’d really like to try out, and I really don’t want to have to redo my network diagram if I can avoid it.

Thanks for any insight,
::James

please send us your export file to see what is wrong (support@mikrotik.com)

This has been sent (nice and hefty 6MB file).

Haven’t heard back regarding this, but thought I’d share some troubleshooting I’ve had time to try. I figured something in the xml file was probably not transferring to 3.0 smoothly, so I’ve tried removing all of the following from the xml and importing it with no luck so far: , , . Also, in the in \dude\data\files directory, the Action, Debug, & Event logs are all empty (0 byte files).

It shouldn’t make any difference, but the 3.0b4 machine that I’ve been trying to import to these last few days is on a seperate test network (don’t want to mess around on a working machine), so most of the devices that are being imported would not respond.
