Upgrade 2.8.1 to 2.9 via net

I have some 2.8 routers I need to update inplace. I am not worried about the queues, just need to keep the IPs so that I can get back to them, have to do the upgrade remotly.

I want to put 2.9 on them, but it shows not to use the routeros-86 package to upgrade, what do I use then? Keep in mind, all I am worried about is the IPs so that I can get back into it and rebuid it

I think it is as simple as using FTP to upload the correct packages to the units, and reboot them. That should start the upgrade automagically… :sunglasses:

Dont forget to set the transfer mode on the file upload to BIN.
Failure to do so will result in the files being marked bad and the upgrade will not go.

It is as simple as typing “bin” at the FTP prompt if you are using dos FTP.

This is the most comon cause of routers that “Do not upgrade” issues.

Hope this reminder helps..
