Upgrade from 6.31 to 6.32.2 killed ethernet

Hello All,

I did an upgrade as I usually do every month or so and today’s upgrade ended up breaking something.
Upon inspecting the firewall it said NO LINK on the display and I couldn’t communicate in any direction.
I factory reset at that point, grabbed my backup from yesterday and restored it.
After it rebooted I ended up with the same problem NO LINK and of course no communications.
If I plugged in a laptop to the router it didn’t recognize a link of any sort on the laptop ( it did of course after facotry reset ).

Luckily Mikrotik allows you to downgrade to your previous version, did that, restored and all worked.

Having said this, I read through again the upgrade information and didn’t see anything that would make me feel like I would loose networking functionality.

Any suggestions on the best way to proceed to get an upgrade without crashing?

Thanks!

6.30.4 is the last stable version. You must have good reason to update and make your own tests before updating. Partitioning is good prevention against such problems for future…

Thanks for the response, not sure why it didn’t ping me that you responded.
I wasn’t intentionally going to any “beta” version, I thought I was staying on stable, is there maybe something else I need to look at within my settings?

Thanks!

Try the partitions as I have suggested. It is good to make tests on your own and read the forum at least about new versions to know who had what experience with the version you are going to update.
