Hi.
After updating hapAC3 RouterOS 6 to 7, I can’t get to the router. The router works, dhcp ok, masquerade ok, VPNs do not connect, I can not enter it via winbox or via www, after opening the ports that I do not use on the router:
110/tcp closed pop3
139/tcp closed netbios-ssn
143/tcp closed imap
199/tcp closed smux
445/tcp closed microsoft-ds
554/tcp closed rtsp
995/tcp closed pop3s
3389/tcp closed ms-wbt-server
I’m considering a reset but I’m afraid of losing my connection completely.
A reset of configuration to defaults will indeed erase it, so if you haven’t saved a backup at least to the flash directory on the hAP ac3, it will be lost. If you happen to have an USB to serial adaptor and a serial port on your laptop (or yet another USB to serial adaptor), you can try to log in that way - by default the serial console should work this way. But if the issue is a blocked console process, or if the serial console configuration is also wrong, your configuration is indeed inaccessible.
I’d say the regular USB to standard RS232 signal level adaptors are easier to obtain. The ones you suggest are good if you want to be able to connect to devices with TTL serial levels where the level adaptor has been left out from the design for pricing reasons.
The ROS 7 documentation doesn’t clearly state whether the USB serial port automatically becomes a console port when connected to a given Mikrotik device for the first time. I was almost sure it did in ROS 6, but I’m not any more as I’ve just inserted an USB to serial adaptor that has never been connected to that particular device and it did not become a console port automatically. But another USB to serial adaptor has already been configured as a console on that router, so that may be related.
