Hello MKT Team
Like 2 month I installed a License level 4 in a new server, I now I have more that 150 clients, It’s possible to upgrade the license to level 6? I have the actual license in a IBM server with an originally disk, so I want to continue using that disc.
Thanks
Rafael Lore

Thank MAXI o pongo gracias nomas!!!
And how I do to recover that license, to use on another disk?
Rafael Lore
buy a new license and install a new disk. use old disk with old license =)
But the “old disk” have only 2 month!!! and is a wonderfull disk, is a IBM
Hey why don’t he can’t upgrade his license? I have updated a few L-4 license to L-6. I just have to pay the extra fee(L-6 license price - L-4 license price)= (250$-45$)= 205$
mikrotik doesn’t offer such feature.
as somebody already said - use this old disk in another router, and get a new disk for the current setup, with a brand new L6
Yes like say hulk-bd pay only teh upgrade!!!
And How can I do the transfer license? so I continue using this disk with the server and I use L4 in another

Dear normis, Then how could I done that??? is that kindda option just deleted from work with keys (MT license option)???
Dudes I have done it for 3 of my MT OS L-4 license and upgraded to L-6. How come??? ![]()
sorry, there is no such feature. i don’t know how you did it, but it’s not legally possible.
you cannot transfer the license. use this disk with L4 in another server, and buy new disk for L6
when was that done?
when was that done?
I think there was an option like upgrade, not sure but it wasn’t any illegal thing. cause I had to pay 205$ per L-6 license for upgrading from L-4 to L-6 .
Dear normis how can you say something like that!

I paid for all of my license.
Am I the only one that thinks it is ridiculious that you can’t “upgrade” a license or transfer it to a new drive? Probably one of the dumbest things I can think of for Mikrotik ROS. Otherwise it’s a nice OS and great features… But that’s the one thing holding me back from ever buying a license and installing it on an X86 based machine. Stupid Stupid Stupid…
Whys that, just move it to another machine. If needed.. to be honest, you are one of the first people that I have heard complain about this.. Most people think paying 45 beans for a LVL4 and all the features is a steal…
Crap, my hard drive died so now I have to buy a new copy of windows, and a new copy of office, etc…
What if you just want a newer faster drive and want to clone it to a new one… nope, gotta but a new license too.
Sorry, but that logic just doesn’t make sense to me.
There are a ton of reasons I can think of that I might want to change the disk that shouldn’t require new software.
Maybe if I hear one GOOD reason, I’ll lighten up, but I think I’m speaking for quite a few more people than you think.. I could be wrong, but I’ve seen at least a few people who didn’t think it was right either. And no, “it doesn’t cost that much anyway” isn’t a “good” reason. Just because it’s not that painful doesn’t mean it’s right. There is only one reason I can think of that even qualifies as an answer and that would be copy protection.
what you wrote is not correct. it doesn’t work that way. you have to contact support and it will be solved.
If what you say is true, then that’s great, but it is opposite of what the WIKI and other users here say.
According to the wiki, the only thing mentioned is if you have a physical failure that is beyond your control, and even then it says you might need to send in the drive to PROVE that you’re telling the truth.
So is it really much simpler than that and someone who simply wants to put in a new hard drive could actually transfer the license?
Imagine what would happen if the docs said something else - everyone would tell us their drives failed and just clone the licenses.

yes it’s possible and not difficult at all, but it has to go though support
Hello
Like say jcremin, gmsmstr you are so confuse!!! We are people that works, do what we can!! and not have a lot of money to buy license everytime!!! Paying U$S 250 and the other license (U$S 45) is too expensive!!
Well I think I’ll have to buy a new one, but I want to use that disk!! How can I transfer the license L4 to another disk?
