Upgrade Path

Hi All

I have had a RouterBoard 751g-2HnD for a few months now. I am somewhat confused as to the upgrade path the numbers seem all over the shop. The Version I am using is 5.6 with a firmware version of 2.36 Could you clarify to me what upgrade patb there is.

Thank you

The current RouterOS version is 5.21 found here:

http://www.mikrotik.com/download

The upgrade process is simple:

  1. Open http://www.mikrotik.com/download
  2. Click RB700 series
  3. Download RouterOS NPK package for the latest version (currently v5.21)
  4. Open the IP of your router in your browser, say 192.168.88.1
  5. In Webfig, select the Files menu, then BROWSE to upload the NPK file
  6. Choose the Reboot option in Webfig

Thanks Celtic And Nomis.

The numbers IMO seem a bit counter intuitive always been used to them going up in incrememnts.

I really like the router by the way has lots of features. finding my way around terminal. This thing does have a lot of power.

RouterOS versions are numbered sequentially, when a period is used to separate sequences, it does not represent a decimal point, and the sequences do not have positional significance. An identifier of 2.5, for instance, is not “two and a half” or “half way to version three”, it is the fifth second-level revision of the second first-level revision. Therefore v5.2 is older than v5.18, which is newer.

It is important to disable packages that you do not use, this will free up more hardware resource.
