Upgrade RouterOS on a old RB450

Hi again!
I don't know if my first post was right; I think I lost it before finishing.
I have two RBs (RouterBOARD 450), exactly the same.
I managed to update one of them to version 6.49.19.
I can't get the other one working at all. I don't remember the steps I took to get it working, and I can't reproduce them on the other RouterBOARD.
Details:

  • I can only access the RB with Winbox-3.RC6
  • Identity MicroTik
  • Version 3.30
  • Board RB450
  • When I open the RB through Winbox, the top line reads:
    admin@[mac-address] (MicroTik) - WinBox v3.30 on RB450 (mipsbe)
  • I can't import or restore any npk or rsc packages
I appreciate any tips, step-by-step instructions, or any help.
    Thanks!

Unless you want to keep current configuration of device intact (and with such an ancient ROS version currently running you really should not), you better have a look at netinstall .

After you manage to start newer version of ROS (which is operating system, much like Windows), don't forget to upgrade also RouterBOOT (much like BIOS/(U)EFI) ... System -> RouterBOARD -> Upgrade

It might be necessary to use a more recent version of Winbox after you upgrade ROS to 6.49 ... I suggest you to go with latest WinBox 3 (version 4 is still beta and has a few issues still).

If I remember correctly, you have to update your license somewhere around that version: System→License and then Update license key.

mkx, onnoossendrijver, perfect!

Netinstall.

I'll try!

Thank you so much!
