I really love the RB5009 units but the 1G ports hold me back from using it for a lot of sites.
please make an almost identical product but with 2.5G ports and 600mA of power output on 53V
Would also be really handy to have a switch to match system voltage for PoE out to be ‘highest input PoE’ but that is way down the list for me vs 2.5G ports at 53V0.6A
lots of views, no responses. If anyone is interested in this, please speak up. Mikrotik obviously has to develop hardware that is likely to sell so let them know. I know in the wisp community this is a highly sought item based on various conversations, but those need to be expressed here, or directly to mikrotik, if we want them to happen.
I have real, immediate use for this. I’m duct taping together solutions.
on the existing 5009-out:
I use the 2.5G port for backhaul, then the 1G for APs. When I saturate that 1G port I have to add another vendors 2.5G switch (Hyconext Nextwav lite right now) via SFP+ port and that has to go in another enclosure. Alternatively, the Tachyon TNS100 which provides 4x 2.5G ports also, same issue of requiring an enclosure. Then I’ve got an rb5009 with a single 2.5G port and SFP+ port used and the rest of the ports are pointless.
If I start needing those 2.5G ports, I just get the rb5009 and the other switch(s) and put them in a bix right away. Not remotely as elegant as the rb5009 ‘2.5’ -out model I propose would be.
I’m putting UI Wave Micros (2.5G port) and Tachyon 3xx (2.5G port) in these.
