Hello,
I am a wireless Networking Operator. Now I am using 411AR with Omni in 2.4GHZ.My present customer strength is 40 and I wish to increase 300.I was suggested by technicians to Change my Radio as 433AH with 3 x 120 deg Sectoral Antennas. My Present bandwidth is 4Mbps.My ISP is ready to increase it to 10 Mbps. Please suggest me. - Kovai Ravi
We have about a thousand WISP subs. I would reccomend a 433AH and no more than 50 subs per sector. you will have to add additional sectors/mikrotiks untill you get to 300. My best guess is that a 433ah should be able to do 100+ pppoe connections and 10 megs without too much problem (depends how much firewalling/filtering you do). what we find is that performance, and sometimes, stability becomes a problem when you add more than 50 or so per sector on 802.11b
are you runniung wireless b or g or n?
Ok, we run primarely 2.4B in forced 11meg mode. What i Have found is that after 50 subscribers bandwidth management and latency becomes an issue. Im running butch evans traffic shaping and have had good success with that. at 50 subs on wireless B your total real bandwidth goes down when compared to a sector with fewer subs. at 80 subs its 4.5meg. at 50 its not quite 5megs.
so for you, if you were running wireless B and pppoe, id suggest 3 sectors of 50 customers per rb433ah. the only problem i forsee is that bandwidth management on 3 sectors on a single mikrotik will be an issue. we have limited ourselves to 1 sector per MT, but im sure there is a way to have 3 seperate limiting setups per wlan interface. You may want to look up butch evans to see if his setup can help you.
