Will the client bridge work well enough using the old firmware/bios to allow me to connect remotely and perform the bios update… or will I need to be on site to do this?
From past experience I know this needs to be a second step and isn’t automatically updated when the routerboard reboots.
I am imagining that I would follow the following steps;
Update the CPE at remote site to 6.30.2 by copying routeros-mipsbe-6.30.2.npk, and rebooting routerboard
Update the AP to 6.30.2 by copying routeros-mipsbe-6.30.2.npk, and rebooting routerboard
Reconnect to the AP and update the firmware/bios to current version, and reboot again.
Reconnect to the CPE at remote site via bridge, and update the firmware/bios to current version, and reboot.
Verify that bridge is fully operational, and save new backups of the config files for both AP and CPE
I understand your reasons for your warning, but it doesn’t really answer the question.
Although I am not especially interested in advanced new features, I am interested in eliminating vulnerabilities and possible performance or stability improvements that may result from an upgrade.
