Upgrading my old router with a new mikrotik.

Hello this may be a long post, please hold with I’m rather a half noob in mikrotik.
I have a brand new RB951Ui-2HnD I want to integrate it in my network due to the fact that my primary router is tripping. Connected to the main router is a dlink mesh network providing wireless to the whole house using a cable from the main router to the primary mesh router, the router simply gets internet through a cable from my isp and the dlink mesh provides the house through a 5ghz wireless network (this is the current scenario).
The alternatives in mind :
My scenario is to make the mikrotik the primary router that gets internet from the isp and give the mesh the internet to provide the house but the question is can i mange the devices and quote them for example if the Ip address isn’t given from the mikrotik, but instead from the dlink mesh. Or should I try and make the dlink act as a repeater that extends wireless signal only (doesn’t do any management whatsoever) and let the mikrotik handle everything ( DHCP, DNS, QUEO… Etc)

THat is a good question and really depends on the dlink mesh setup.
If the dlink device(s) do not provide mesh functionality without (router like setup with dhcp etc), then it would be best to treat the mesh unit as another router.
The mikrotik would provide it internet, no issues.

Nope I think there’s a functionality that make it act as a bridge to only give wireless signal.

Will it read vlans in that bridged mode for example??

I don’t thinks so but in bridge mode the main router(Mikrotik) gives address
